Memorial Weekend

D and I got off work for the weekend and head out to Lake Powell. We met my friend Kris and her friend Wendy Friday morning. We stayed at Wahweap, which I loved because of the showers. Other than that it was a normal campground. Unfortunately for us the weather was less than stellar. It rained a good portion of the trip :( We did some small hikes on Friday. This is a picture of Horseshoe bend

This is my yucky picture due to the runoff.
My picture also is a bad view because I wouldn't get too close to the edge. It was scary for me. Damien was jumping around on the rocks like a crazy person by the edge. I had to take an anxiety break on a distant rock where I couldn't see him. Everyone thought I was being silly. Kris asked me what I would do if we had our little one running around up there. My answer: a leash connected to me.
The first night D went fishing, he was gone for a few hours. I thought he would have given up, but he came back with one little bitty fish. He was sad it wasn't a bass but glad he caught something. Rob Farrer has rubbed off on him.

It rained all night! AND our tent leaked...a lot. It is one of Rob's old ones from scout camps. My pillow and feet were soaked not to mention everything on the ground. Oddly Damien didn't get wet. The next morning we had to make some tarp purchases to fortify our tent. It worked well, but we will need to buy a new tent soon. That morning we took a tour of the Antelope Canyon. It was the best part of the trip. We only got to see about half because there was a flash flood warning. It was still worth going. We didn't have much else to do because of the rain so we took a tour of the damn to get to Page. We went on another little hike and then headed back to camp. That night we had foil dinners! Its one of our favorites for camping.
Sunday morning we packed up and headed to Zions. We only went on one hike to the Emerald pools. It wasn't a bad hike, but it was really hot. Plus I was not having a good day. I was nauseas and exhausted. So after that hike I was like lets get the freak out of here. It was a fun trip minus the weather.
