This is me in all my glory the night before: Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve we spent the night at Damien's parents in Eagle Mountain. I woke up just before 3 am thinking I needed to go to the hospital. I started timing my contractions and wasn't consistant enough to go. I was awake from then on for the day. I had lovely contractions amid opening Christmas presents. It was interesting. After 11 my father-in-law insisted we leave for the hospital. We left but my contractions were not consistant. Anyways, Damien drove in the median from the ranches in Eagles Mtn all the way to the fwy on Lehi Main driving as fast as he could. He really wanted a police car to chase us to the hospital. It didn't happen though. We got there in 22 minutes! The nurses checked me and I was a 7. Not long after it was time to push. Damien had my nurse and midwife take bets on how long I would push. One said 45 minutes the other said 35 minutes. The nurse won, being over about 5 minutes.
Well Blake was flaring his nostrils when he was born, which apparently is bad. So they took him down to the nursery shortly after he was born. Damien said he really liked getting his head scrubbed and his bath. On saturday night he got congested somehow, which interfered with his breathing and eating. He had an extremely high respiratory rate so they admitted him to the level II nursery. They put an IV in and all sorts of monitors and cords. With his congestion as bad as it was they worried he had RSV. So then we had to wear masks, gloves, and gowns til the test results came back. That was terrible. He just slept the days away though, he was wearing himself out breathing so fast. Then they had to put a feeding tube in which looks terrible. Once his respiratory rate came down I started feeding him again. And he did really good. So everything started to get better, his respiratory rate went down, his congestion wasn't too bad, he was eating himself. The problem was that his oxygen saturation would dip down once in awhile. So then he had to be put on oxygen. They took his IV out though and his feeding tube. We left the hospital after a week and are so glad to be gone. He is still on the oxygen as you can see his little cannula in his nose. The Dr.s say he should ween off of that within a month or so, maybe sooner. So here are some fun pics of our little guy You can see his ginger hair in this picture
